Amata Block B Combined Cycle Power Generator Facility |
Client : B.Grimm Engineering System PLC
|
The Amata Block B Combined Cycle Power Generator Facility is located in the Bangpakong Industrial Estate and provides electrical power to the local power grid in parallel with the National Power Generation Authority.
Power is generated by two 43MW Gas Turbines and one 48MW Steam Turbine. In addition to producing electricity directly, the two Gas Turbines exhaust via two heat recovery steam generators which in turn drives the 48MW Steam Turbine.
Power is generated at 11kV and then transformed to 115kV via step-up transformers to supply power to the grid via the 115kV switchyard.
Ancillary services for the generator’s water cooling system pumps and cooling towers are supplied via 11kV / 6.6kV oil cooled transformers, controlled throughout the MCC’s.
The building services and controls are nominal 380V supply via 11kV/380V step-down oil cooled transformers.
As well as selling power to the National Grid, the plant retails electric power and steam to the local industrial estate.
EEC Lincolne Scott was responsible for the plants overall Electrical Engineering detailed design as well as the specialist calculations associated with:
• Fault Level Analysis
• Protection and Coordination Study
• De-coupling Study
• Load Flow Analysis
• Dynamic Stress Analysis
• Relay Protection Settings
